I am beyond excited to share this wedding for so many reasons. This was the last wedding I shot before I had Beyah, and I wasn’t even supposed to be there. Rebecca and Matt’s wedding day rolled around, and there I was…still pregnant. Rebecca booked us knowing that I was pregnant and that I probably wouldn’t be there. Reason #1 why she’s awesome: she trusted that Chad and Whitney would do an amazing job regardless of my presence. Although I wasn’t supposed to be there, I had decided to go shoot reception details at Budleigh to cut down on travel time for Chad and Whitney who would be shooting the ceremony on the beach in Kill Devil Hills. Rain was in the forecast and in the days leading up to the wedding, it kept looking worse and worse. I finally just decided to shoot with the team to help any way that my huge self could on what could be a stressful day thanks to the rain and plan B changes.
When we pulled up at the beach house and walked in the door, we were instantly greeted by some handsome groomsmen and a slew of happy bridesmaids. When Rebecca saw me and her face lit up, I knew I had made the right decision. She was so appreciative that I was there that I instantly knew this was going to be an awesome wedding. I felt horrible that her beach wedding was not going to happen, but it couldn’t have happened to a more positive person. I’m sure she had her moments of disappointment, but somehow this beautiful lady focused on what was important…she was about to marry one handsome man and have an amazing day regardless of location.
Taking pictures of these two was just too easy. Are they sexy or what?! I just loved the classic/old Hollywood feel of everything. We got lucky with the weather for just long enough to do their first look as well as wedding party and bride and groom portraits on the beach before it down-poured and we headed for 108 Budleigh.
Laura from Sugar Snap Events made sure that everything ran smoothly, and we can’t thank her enough for pulling off quite a plan B and making it seem effortless.
This was our first ceremony inside Budleigh, and I thought it was beautiful. To make things better, the rain stopped just long enough for us to take the whole crew back outside around downtown Manteo for what ended up being some of my favorite wedding party photos we’ve captured to date. Rebecca and Matt’s wedding party was in straight GQ model mode, and we took advantage of it. You guys rock!
All in all, I couldn’t be happier with how these images and the entire day turned out. Everyone pulled together to make what could have been a disappointing day into something awesome. Rebecca & Matt, we can’t thank you enough for trusting in us, for saying yes to all of our crazy requests (especially going out in the rain before your ceremony!), and for being amazing people. It was a pleasure to capture your day. Congrats & enjoy!
