I am so excited to post this next wedding! Emily and Jesse, it was truly an honor to photograph your wedding. I met Emily all the way back in 2005 in a film class at UNCW. I remember it like it was yesterday…Emily sat to my right and Joe (another lifelong friend who shoots weddings for me from time to time) sat to my left. Little did the 3 of us know that by making the simple decision to work together on a class project, we would become instant friends and share some extremely memorable times. When I think of Emily, I think of not eating. That’s right…NOT eating. Crazy, right? Well, we were. Emily, Joe, and myself, with the help of our other film buddy Kyle, embarked on an insane journey of creating a documentary revolving around the 3 of us fasting for 10 days. 10 DAYS! While none of us actually made 10 days (we slowly dropped like flies, with me finishing off at 8 days) and our documentary was never completed, our week+ experience is one I will never forget. I have an immense respect for Joe and Emily for what I see as a huge accomplishment. Some may see fasting as silly/unhealthy/crazy, but we saw it differently. The self control and internal contemplation that arose from our experience has been unmatchable so far in my life. Personally, I have thought about fasting again, but have been completely unsuccessful. I say this because I now know that I owe so much of my success in fasting to Emily and Joe. So, to make a long story short, Emily–I thank you for being in my life and I am so appreciative that I had the opportunity to experience what we did together. I only had the privilege of meeting Jesse for a short time, but I know everything I need to know because Emily chose to marry him. I wish you both the best, and who knows, maybe there will be another fast in our future!
Emily and Jesse were married in Frederick, Maryland. Below are the highlights, both moving and still:
