As I sit in front of my computer day after day, editing and preparing all of our clients’ images, life can seem like it’s happening outside. Not where I am.
Don’t get me wrong…I love what I do, and I find great happiness in knowing that we are capturing people’s most important life moments. That, along with my constant need for creativity through photography, keeps me going through our busiest of times.
In the midst of editing countless family portraits yesterday, something struck me. These moments are happiness. These kids choose to be happy. I have no doubt that every person in this world has struggles and stress and reasons to be unhappy. I’m just going to come out and say it…life is hard. We can all pretend that we have the perfect life with the perfect happiness and zero unhappiness, but it just isn’t true. Life is plain hard. For me, I find a great amount of freedom in acknowledging this fact. I don’t find it pessimistic at all, but rather quite hopeful. When something is hard, you rise to the occasion. You step up and fight for it. The “it” is life and the happiness you claim. We spend more time working than we do playing, and probably more time stressing than we do enjoying. This makes those moments of bliss all the more precious and valuable. I am just as guilty of this as anyone, and I am therefore very thankful to see these images come through my screen to remind me to fight for moments like these. I hope it does the same for you, and I thank our wonderful clients for finding joy and sharing the sunshine. A big hug to my husband Chad for capturing all of these! Enjoy!
